Episode 14: Market with Google Ads

Hey, welcome to resort marketing vids.

Today we’re talking about Google Ads. Google Ads let you target the audience you want to market to by placing ads on the search engine result pages when specific keywords are typed in.

So, when you do a Google search there are two main sets of ads that can pop up in the search engine results pages, or SERPS. The first set of ads is commonly in a yellow-orange-ish box that sits directly below the search box and directly above the search results.

The second set of ads sit in a column to the right of the search results.

This method of advertising is commonly referred to as PPC or, pay per click, advertising. And it is hands down the fastest, easiest, most effective, and least expensive way to drive targeted traffic directly to your website.

Now, I’ll put this disclaimer right up front. If you don’t already have a solid internet marketing strategy you should stop right here, because pay per click ads won’t do anything for you.

One big mistake businesses make every single day, is posting an ad for a keyword related to their business, and having the ad direct users right to their home page instead of a custom landing page. This is the least effective way to use pay per click ads. And if you’re getting business from this method, Fantastic, keep watching, because I’m about to show you how to make that even better.

I set up a site you can use for reference on how to capitalize on traffic coming in from pay per click ads. Go to www.YourSocialMediaMarketingExpert.com. The first thing you see when you get to the site is an educational video that is there for the sole purpose of getting people to enter their contact information into the form on the right of the page. Once their information is entered it plugs that person into an automatic marketing campaign that follows-up with them automatically.

This is the kind of internet marketing strategy you have to set up when your using Google ads. You need something designed to catch their attention immediately – a video works great for this. The second thing you need, is a contact information form. The third thing you need is an incentive that will motivate people to put their information in the form.

To review: Attention, Information, Incentive.

Now, before you set up any ads you need to do some keyword research. If that sounds familiar it should. We’ve been harping on it for fourteen weeks now. My two favorite tools to use for keyword research are the Google Adwords Keyword tool, and a tool called Keyword Spy from www.KeywordSpy.com.

What if you could know precisely what every person in your area was searching for online so that you could custom tailor your ads to match their searches exactly? Look at it this way, when you set up an adwords campaign you are committing to pay Google to advertise for you based on certain keywords. Wouldn’t it make more sense to take the time to find that information out, BEFORE you start spending your money?

I thought so.

In summary, before setting up a Google Adwords campaign make sure your website is optimized to handle the traffic. Once that’s set, DO YOUR KEYWORD RESEARCH. Find out what the best words you can use for your ads are.

This will get you off to a better start than 80% of businesses using Adwords today.

Make sure to watch the new Resort Marketing Video next week. I’ll reveal a powerful technique I’ve never publically shared before. This one method will triple your online exposure, put your search engine optimization on overdrive, and increase your online footprint like crazy.

That’s all for this episode, I’ll catch you next week for more tips and details.
