Easy Video Marketing

Welcome to Resort Marketing Vids. I’m Michael Grimm for the Resort Developers Association. Today we’re taking a look at the power that video marketing has to accelerate the buying process.

You’ll remember that, already, 98% of people are going to search for your business online before doing business with you.

In previous episodes we’ve covered how to get the content you want ranked on that first page for your key words.

But did you know that if you rank video for those keywords instead of text entries you’re over sixty percent more likely to engage the users attention?

And Forrester Research says that online videos are fifty three times more likely to get a first page ranking on Google than a text page.

Which is great news for us. And if you’ve ever followed through on any of our video training I’m sure you’ve seen this firsthand for yourself. In fact I was just helping a resort last month where we uploading some video content to rank for the keywords we had selected. In under fifteen minutes that video was ranked number one on the first result page on Google for our target keyword. After that, the video got nearly a hundred hits in about a month.

Who do you think is watching your video content online? It’s your prospects. It’s the people who checked out your booth at the fair, or got a postcard from you in the mail. It’s the people who are coming up for a tour this weekend. What, you didn’t think they wouldn’t check you out online before they came up for their “free gift” did you? Everybody does it today. And the video content you upload has the potential to influence their buying decision one way or another.

So here are some tips for creating good content to help sway your prospects towards becoming new members with you this weekend.

Number one: Use a good equipment. This means a good camera AND a good microphone. The quality of the audio is just as important as your video.

Number two: Have a plan. Don’t just start shooting blindly. Sit down before hand and brainstorm what you’re going to do. Maybe you’re going to film a video tour of your resort, or highlight the different activities available. Make a plan of how you’re going to do that before hand.

Number three: Do some prep before you go on camera. Video lives forever and you want to look your best. So put on a nice outfit, comb your hair, and most importantly, Smile.

Number four: Practice. Maybe you’ll get it right the first time or maybe you’ll need a few takes. Before you start filming, take a few minutes to practice what you’re going to say and how you’re going to say it.

Video may be more important than you imagine. Even the newspapers are including video in their online versions. In fact they’re even reporting that users engage more with the videos in the articles than the actual articles themselves.

So whatever you do, start using video, or at least start planning to. I walk around with a video camera in my pocket everywhere I go, just in case. I suggest that around the resort, you do the same. You never know when you’re going to have the chance to capture some great video content that a prospect will relate to right before they come up for their tour.

That’s all for this week. We’ll be doing a lot more work with video in the near future and the episodes to come. I hope you’ll follow along.  For the Resort Developers Association, I’ll see you next week.
