Pinterest: 5 Advanced Tips
Ok, so weâve covered the basics of Pinterest, but here are a few, slightly more
advanced, tips to make sure youâre getting the most out of your boards possible.
1. Remember to fill out the âAboutâ section of your profile. This sounds like
common sense, but youâd be surprised how many people donât do it, and just
leave it blank. The âAboutâ section will appear on your Pinterest page right below
your picture, and be sure to include your website url in your profile.
2. Encourage engagement through comments and likes. You like it when people
comment on your pins, and so will your followers. If you see something cool, like
it. If you see something really cool, comment on it. Neither of these get posted
to your boards, but it gets a conversation started. Use these features regularly to
really engage with other users.
3. Create a âthank youâ board to send special appreciative messages to your
members. You could create special holiday thank you cards, or send shout-outs
to new members. Maybe create special congratulations cards for when members
have babies or grandchildren, or when a member hosts a wedding at your resort.
Make your members feel valued. You can even tag other Pinterest users in your
pinsâ descriptions by including the at symbol directly before their user names

4. Pin videos. Pinterest has a whole section just for videos. Right now, video
hasnât caught on as well as pinning images, but fewer users means higher
chances of your videos getting noticed. Remember how important weâve said
testimonials are for your resort? You can create a dedicated testimonial board
filled with people saying great things about you.
5. Give users an insight into your resort. Create a special behind-the-scenes
board to show some of the things that go on when the members arenât around.
Maybe youâve just started a big construction project, or maybe get a shot of a
staff member testing out the waterslide for the first time of the season. Get your
staff involved by adding them as contributors on certain boards. Encourage them
to have fun with it. Theyâll love it, and youâll end up with a much richer Pinterest
presence. Even create a specific board to highlight the team members at your
resort. Pin a picture of each person and include a short bio in the description
area.
